We have had this discussion on several occassions but today I had a thought. Like during this election season, it is one thing to sit back and hope for the best but it is more helpful to get involved and do something constructive. I have heard that the only reason Raleigh got a Crate & Barrel was because enough of our fellow citizens told the company that we would like to have one here in town. Now that doesn't seem all that hard or time consuming so based on our previous conversations and my own thoughts, I visited some websites and got contact information for several other stores. These are just a few so if you can think of others, respond and give the contact info. The first one is American Apparel which now has 2 stores in Charlotte. Their feedback request is a little different in that not only do they solicit suggestions for new locations, they ask where specifically in town we would like to see one of their stores, and then have a place for developers to submit proposals too. So if any management companies are reading this, get on the ball and get them some info! Having worked in retail, I know just how important customer feedback is to the decision making process so let's let these companies know that this market is primed and ready to support them.

You've nailed pretty much all the ones I'd liek to see. Time for me to start typin'!
Done. As I've said before, I can see Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, Puma and American Apparel doing very well on H-boro Street. I see Burberry and H&M as downtown (along Fayetteville Street)-type stores, or perhaps at CV or NH. Same with Dean & Deluca.
H&M Has been looking at Raleigh for years although they are now considering Charlotte. At one point they were set to take over the Lord & Taylor space at Crabtree.
This is great. I never thought of simply giving retail businesses like these a shout and letting them know that there are interested customers in the Raleigh area.
I'd personally keep Puma in business if they were here :)
Already got a response from Antro saying "no dice."
Urban Outfitters, on the other hand, seemed to appreciate the email.
This may just work. Two years before Costco finally came to Raleigh, I had emailed them asking them to come here. :-)
Of your list, I definitely agree with H&M and American Apparel. Downtown, preferably!
The N&O is reporting today that Southpoint is getting Anthropologie!
This is a great list and a GREAT idea! I just sent off e-mails to H&M, Dean & Deluca, and American Apparel. Hopefully we can get enough people to convince them!
Mind if I link this blog up to my blogsite?
NCScoop: Please, feel free!
I know this place is relegated to WNC, but I think a Mast General Store would be very cool and charming in DTR.
